Advanced Work Based
First Aid Training

Work environments are all different and knowing what to do and where to go could save lives.

As with our First Responder First Aid course, this course is for people new to first aid and working in a high-hazard environment. Incorporating the NZQA unit standards of 6401 and 6402, this course adds the additional unit standard of 6400, Management of first aid emergencies, which is required for workplace first aiders.

There are no written tests, and we use a range of scenarios and activities to ensure you achieve the requirements of the course.

Advanced Workbased First Aid Training covers NZQA unit standards 6400, 6401 and 6402. The course covers all the basic skills required in an emergency First Aid situation likely to be encountered in a high-hazard environment.

At Your Place or Ours

Our Advanced Workbased First Aid Training can be tailored for your company and your industry and delivered at your place of work or ours. When delivered at your place of work this full day course is customised to your industry and/or workplace.

Or, for smaller companies we offer regular public courses at our offices and training centres.

Advanced Workbased First Aid Training

Our Advanced Workbased First Aid Training covers the following three unit standards

US 6400

Manage First Aid in Emergencies
Management of First Aid for:

  •   Head injuries
  •   Suspected spinal injuries
  •   Major wounds
  •   Major burns
  •   Severe allergic reaction
  •   Heat and cold emergencies
  •   Emergency scene management

US 6401

Provide First Aid
Recognition of and provide first aid for:

  • Bleeding
  • Shock
  • Asthma
  • Heart Attack
  • Stroke
  • Poisoning
  • Seizures
  • Fractures
  • Soft Tissues Injuries
  • Burns
  • Diabetes

US 6402

Provide Basic Life Support

  • Scene Assessment
  • Casualty Assessment
  • Recovery Position
  • CPR (Adult, Child, Infant)
  • Use of Defibrillator
  • Choking (Adult, Child, Infant)
  • General Care

Note:

Unit Standard Assessment is optional.

8 hour class + pre-class reading.
