Caring For Yourself And Others Post Incident

KNOWING AND PROVIDING THE NECESSARY LEVELS OF CARE AND SUPPORT TO YOUR STAFF AFTER A TRAUMATIC INCIDENT, CAN SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE THE LONG-TERM IMPACT AND IS AN ESSENTIAL PART OF HELPING THEM TO RESUME ‘RECOVERY’.

Single or reoccurring traumatic events, effect a person’s sense of emotional and/or physical safety and often triggers strong fear and stress reactions. In some cases, these reactions are so strong, they can overwhelm someone’s ability to function as normal. Normal responses to a traumatic event include reports of sleeplessness, an inability to focus, irritability and flashbacks.

For most people, their bodies will naturally resume “recovery” in a few days and will be happy and ready to return to their normal routine.  However for some, their body may stay in this heightened state and require additional help for them resume recovery.

This workshop unpacks how the body responds to a traumatic incident, and explains the physical and neurological effects we feel when threatened. In this course, we explain key strategies and practice the tools discussed, to help alleviate the threat/stress response.
